"Often while traveling with a camera we arrive just as the sun slips over the horizon of a moment, too late to expose film, only time enough to expose our hearts." Minor White

New work : Da Bottom Boys

I live in Oakland to be more precise West Oakland in a neighborhood informally called Lower Bottoms or The Bottoms. The area was originally part of Oakland Point. It's a residential area made up of Victorian homes just a ten minute BART ride from flourishing San Francisco. The neighborhood earned its nickname after the construction of the Cypress Freeway in the 1950s that split the West Oakland neighborhood in two and isolated The Bottoms and Campbell Village Court from the remainder of West Oakland. The Cypress Freeway fell in the 1989 earthquake.  Making the neighborhood boundaries Mandela Parkway to the east, 7th Street to the south, West Grand Avenue to the north, and the former Oakland Army Base to the west. This is a ongoing documentary project.  Check back for more updates.
